I just impulsed purchased one for $109.95 new in the box.
What a pleasant surprise
On the Trap field with 1 1/8oz 3 1/14 dram Long Range Express Remington shells it left nothing but dust on most hits. |

Sounds like your Partner has some serious choke in it.
With a light weight single and the load you were shooting I am surprised it didn't do as much damage to you as it did the targets .
Recommend you try the one ounce Winchester Super-X made in Austrailia. They will break targets well and will save your shoulder. |

I wouldn't have been able to finish the round---moving to a lighter load is sound advice.I am currently loading 3/4 oz for my 16's.I dropped down to 5/8 but it was just too light a load for the 2 3/4 inch hull |

I can't shoot real light loads.
I once or 1 1/8 are fine with me in a 16 gauge.
then again
I use 1 1/8 once trap load in 12 gauge.
21.2 grains of Green Dot and Federal 209a primer in AA hulls with AA wads. |

Recoil has a cumulative effect on the human body. After 2 or 3 years, perhaps a bit longer, of high volume (200 - 300 rounds per week) shooting you will be using the lightest loads available and/or a release trigger because your flinch is so bad or your mind won't let you pull the trigger one more time and abuse your body any longer. |

I have shooting shotguns since 1982 and using the load I mentioned for 8 years. |

OK but have you ever checked to see how bad you are flinching? |

Frankly, I have never been able to hit anything with the H&R/NEF singles. At about 5 1/2 pounds I find the guns too light. Messes my swing up. Plus the recoil is an issue. I am not ashamed to say that the last time I shot one of these guns with heavy trap loads I shot at about 15 targets and that was enuff for me!
Glad you can do good work with yours. |
