What are you guys using for duck loads in your older 16ga. guns? Is Bismuth better than than the Kent tungsten matrix

Only lead is better than Tungsten matrix.IMHO.
Ammunition is the least expensive part of waterfowling, use the best.

I stick with Bismuth; my understanding is Tungsten's harder than the steel of barrel. One could make the case that the shot is shielded from the barrel wall by the wad...but I'd just as soon not take the chance. I don't shoot enough for the cost savings, if any, to make a difference. Bismuth works fine for me.

Over the last 3 years I've shot a lot of ducks (well over 3 dozen) with the 16 ga. load of 1 1/8 oz. of Bismuth #4's. Used them in my Merkel 1620 and my Model 12 and they hit hard and kill cleanly. I'd recommend them to anyone. They are costly-- but not crippling ducks is well worth it; 25 shells cost about $34.00.....don't miss....

I've used Bismuth 4 and 6 for years now in all my shotguns for ducks. The Sweet 16 I shoot is phenomenal with that load. And, I duck hunt a lot. Hey, I'm from Arkansas. It's in my blood. Just about everyone I know uses Bismuth; except the sports. Wink
