Thanks Caleb. I think it looks very much like yours! Don't think I'll ever let this baby go. The light weight should let me carry it when I'm into my eighties, when my other guns might start to feel a little heavy -- if I live that long.

Funny you should say that. Just the other day I told a buddy I plan to hunt grouse for the next 30 years, which would put me at 83. |

Just hunted grouse and woodcock this year for the first time, I'm 67 and love it. I did not kill but 1 woodcock and no grouse but had a great time. Hunted near phillips Wis. hunted with a 31 in 16 and 16 sxs, also a Wingmaster 28. Plan on going back nextyear with my 16 31L |

as I have 2 barrels for my 31 , obe being 28'' full , got a trap MC stock from Macon , and it was close enough as received .Thru some finish on and Shot some trap . Mine was a stock item also and was about 75 bucks as always , not every transaction goes well , .but I've had great luck with them . |

After a couple years in the grouse woods, I'm still enjoying carrying this gun. It's really something special.
Here are a couple pictures of it from the past week or so taking advantage of the low snow conditions in Wisconsin:

Very nice
Fun to have a gun that is an extension of your arm

Pretty neat to be able to hunt so late in the year. When does your small game season end there? |

Season runs through the end of January in Wisconsin. I'm hoping to get out one last time on Friday. Usually we aren't hunting at this time of the year because the snow is too deep, but it's still possible to walk through the woods this year. |

I'm jealous. Pennsylvania was mild in December as well. I've never had more fun over the Christmas holiday. The woods and all the walking were really good for me. Of all the things I do for fun, hunting grouse is easily my favorite. Even after a good year, it's hard to watch it end. I'm always at a loss for inspiration this time of year. You can sit and think about all the hunts and places for just so long and then you have to just let it go (at least I do!). A tough time of year for most of us. Glad to see that your 31 is still a hit. I picked up one in 20 just to have one around (I don't think I'll get to see my 16 for a while). They really are great guns. |

All these years living right next door to WI and I didn't know you could hunt grouse there til end of January. Too late for this year, hope next year is another low snow one.
Caleb, are you shooting factory RST or reloads? |

Factory loads left over from when I had a 2 1/2" gun. I'm on my last box of them, and I picked up some Federals the other day to get me through the season. I almost bought some Winchesters, but they were red! Can you imagine, red shells in a 16ga?!
Why do you ask? |

Thanks, Jay. After a couple seasons with it now, I think I like it enough to make it exactly what I want, and I may send it off this winter to have the stock re-inletted and the DAH brought closer to 2". We'll see, but I'll report back if I end up having the work done.
Even after a couple years, I really love this gun, and I don't think I'd be shooting any more birds with a $27,500 gun than this $275 gun. |
