I recently bought a new 16 ga 525 and have been looking at reloading data and it seems most loads are using the Remington Green hull are the Federal Purple hulls interchangeable ????? I don't have a good source for the Remington hulls but I can get the Federals. Anybody a favorite source for wads?
Thanks

saw557:
my personal favorites are the sg16 wad from ballisticproducts.com
7/8 and 1 oz. loads......and lower chamber pressures due to the straight wall design vs. rems tapered hull, powder charge and primers taken into account, of course.
load data comes free with order, just ask them.
other inputs will be along shortly.......
you may as well have asked us to pick our favorite child |

Still wondering if the Federal purple hulls are interchangeable wwith the Rem. Black hulls as far as rloading data goes. For what ever reason all I can get in my area are Federal shells the selections are not that great.......kinda what I feared when I bought the 16 but I had a hair up my hinny and did it anyway so now I need some good reloading info
Thanks

Sorry, the Federal and Rem loading data are not interchangeable.
Fed hull has more capacity and many favor it for larger payloads(1 1/.
You should be able to find data for the Fed hull.
I prefer the gualandi 16 wad for the roomy federal hull. Grafs and Ballistic Products are the usual sources. Sometimes they are not in stock.
Grafs is usually cheaper shipping.

Trade them hulls I am sure one of the boys here will make you an offer. The Feds are best suited for heavier loads ---I use the Rems with a spacer for 3/4 oz loads |
