Back from NoDak. Killed some pheasants and one sharptail. Pheasants were very wild, and I never really did figure them out. Seems that they headed for food before day light, and never came out of stubble or standing fields until end of day.
Had good cold weather etc, but only one day when it rained were they holed up in the cattails. And that didn't work out for them quite so well.
Seen a lot of birds, but less so on public access ground.

Little dog got her first water retrieve (she is 7 yrs old). Shot two roosters and dropped them both in the water.

Good trip though, but long drive back home. Opener here today, but rained and I slept in, will give her go tomorrow though.

Sounds like you actually did figure them out. Glad you got some!

Sounds like a fun trip. Did you see many sharpies or were you only focused on phez?

Shot one sharptail, saw plenty, they were real jumpy as expected. But there were plenty of sharpies around.

Went to NoDak on opener - too hot - 86 degrees, birds were wild until the high winds pushed then to the cattails. My two buddies worn out my labs trying to shoot a limit - never did but had plenty of chances - they say they averaged 6-7 shells per bird. Next year I hope they listen & get out to the sporting clay course.
