At a gunshow today an ran across this fellow who had this Supposed to be A.H. Fox 16ga. Philly gun with 30" barrels. This gun has been redone with new wood,rust blue barrels and trigger guard,recased color. The case color was done he told me from a guy in Ohio. The job was a beautiful work of case that I have seen in years. The new wood was excellent grain with very nice checkering on both stock and forearm. Bores were excellent with no pitting. I looked for any polishing defects in the bores but did not see any. I make my living as a polisher on medical implants for the last 35years and can tell if someone thinks they can hide a bad job and this one was not harmed if they were polished. I did not asked what the chamber lgt. was cause I do not care. I load for the length as needed. The serial # on this gun is 358340 and the asking price is 2000.00 Don't know if this is reasonable for a Phyilly or not. You guys go any opinons.

That serial # fits a 1922 Sterlingworth which is indeed a Philly gun. You might check if the re-do case colors were by THE COLOR CASE COMPANY Donald A. Menk Jr. PO Box 27 14435 Unity Road New Springfield, OH who is well regarded. Also check and see if the chambers have been lengthened to 2 3/4". Tough to say about the price-you can get a pretty pristine original Sterly for $2500 and a honestly used but still 50% case color for $1700-2000.
