Took my new 16ga 525 to the game farm today. I've got a young Wirehaired Griffon that's a little weak on his pointing and I've been told not to use "planted" birds with him so we worked a "scratch" field. We didn't make it a 100 yds from the truck and he locked up and when I walked in a quail flushed and I just crushed him with the skeet tube and 10z. 6 shot at about 20yds. By the time we made it to the end of the field he had pointed two more rooster pheasants and I crushed both of them. I realize these are game farm birds and it was close shooting but the 1oz. loads just folded the roosters up. I was just happier than a clam 1 hr hunting 3 good solid points and three birds in the bag.......just had to tell someone. |

A new gun, a young dog doing what he should and a few birds in the bag!
That's a memory to remember.
Thanks for sharing.
