Hoa-in what respect are the Cheddite Winchesters equal to Federals. I have used a lot of Federals, but no Winchesters. Thanks. Mike |

They both have inner basewads that can work loose and POSSIBLY lodge in the bore.I know of only one instance of this-secondhand.I should have been more clear-at one time WW marketed a AA compression formed hull(one piece)some were marked upland, they may be either 6 or 8 pointers. If in doubt look inside. The other reference I meant was hull life---I find both to have 3-4 loads max.Others may get better life but I will stick with my stash of AA comps and black Remmy's for my loading. |

Most of the polyformed hullls with plastic base wads are a safer bet than the ones with rolled cardboard base wads, especially for multiple reloadings. Moisture does not affect plastic. However, both have steel rims now and can rust inside under the wads. Keep both types dry, check them all for exposure to moisture, and always chuck any Federals that show any evidence of having been wet even briefly. |
