A couple of months ago, we were all kinda mad at Tom because of his column on 16ga. reloading. In the current issue, which just arrived, he is a bit more positive.
He includes in his article, the hypothetical quote. "As you know, there is a resurgence in 16-gauge shooting, so why don't the American shotshell manufacturers increase their 16-gauge load offerings...?"
He goes on to make a pitch for the 28 gauge, but I liked seeing the quote in print. Maybe we are collectively beginning to make a difference.
Now if the ammo makers will someday take notice, we can really be proud...

I talked to Olin a couple of months ago about the AA 16 wad and what it would take to make a special run. The answer was probably in the millions.
From the conversations I would assume the are working to what manufacturing call (lean). I have heard this before. Problem is the smartass are going to lean theirselves completely out of the business. |

The folks at Eley get a bit of money from me that the big three here will never see. As far as 16 gauge goes, you want for nothing with this company. So, I ask, what do we need? I'm not sure what the big three could offer, at this point, that I would buy.
Best,

Personally, as long as Kent keeps on making their excellent 16 gauge "Ultimate Upland" shells I really don't need anything else. Cheaper would be nice, but I have found all I need in KENT shells.
If I had a source for Eley shells, or any other 16s up here in Alaska, I'd be glad to try them. Locally they get $7.00 or more for a box of promo loads, and typically 16s are only available in 1 1/8 ounce loads.
I'm going to continue supporting KENT.
