Hi everyone i have a question. I was given an older stevens 16ga. single shot by my grand father and i was wondering if i have to be careful if i shot newer amunition out of it because it is probably from the 40's or early 50's.

If you're not comfortable with it, have a gunsmith check it for safety.

If the gun is indeed from that era you should be fine with modern loads. I have 3 Stevens doubles from the 40's and they handle modern ammo just fine. If you're not sure, having it checked out is good advice, however.
