A single shot, maple stock, broken wood, just to ugly or what ever Priced in the $150.00 area. Here is the hard part. I need a 28ga. I hope I have not sullied my reputation as a 16ga devotte with this request but I am desperate.

Never shopped for a 28 ga single shot. The one shown above on the link (H & R) may be " a little" rare.

If your serious you may want to peruse the 28 ga hard. A second search on gunbroker turns up ZIP on 28 ga single shots.
My 2 cents worth......

Why the 28? -- just to love those pretty little shells, I'd bet. I know how you feel, I just had to do that once, too -- way back in highschool in 1968 I scratched that itch with a brand new 870 when they came out with the small frame guns. If you have to have a single-shot, buy a 20 gauge cheap, and have a 28 gauge chamber sleeve either made up and shrunk in for permanent use or made to be removable, or buy one http://gaugemate.com/adapters/gaugemate-gold that is removable. There is only .065" difference in the nominal bore size between the 20 and the 28, so 28's with modern plastic wads do seal up well enough in a 20 gauge bore to not adversely affect performance. By the way, I have a 20 gauge single shot I acquired as an "extra" with a deal on a 16, and I'll sell it to you for $75 and you pay shipping. It seems to be a Stevens from the '20's or '30's so it is a good modern gun. It is not a pretty thing - has blue and stock wear, and a split, but attached and useable-as-is forend, which is repairable -- take it off the forend iron, glue and clamp, re-install, or refinish as desired. Gun is very functional. Haven't measured it, but it is likely full choke -- open the choke (get it reamed) for close in shooting, or load up some spreaders http://polywad.com/spredr.html.

Need a repeater? Find an old Hi-Standard pump in 28.
