I have come across a big lot of 16 western x paper shells and would love some advice on storage until bird season starts back. All boxes are perfect and shells flawless. Dove and quail are going to hate them! |

Storage, ziplock bags with a bit of desiccant in each bag.
Enjoy the hunting with these, what fun, what fun

Best thing to do is send them to ME for storage. I live in the desert SW. And I can parcel them out to you as needed.
Whatever's left!

A big lot you say? Sounds like an addiction may develop. Smelling those paper hulls after firing. Oh my! |

If they get dried out and a little brittle, you can heat them in the oven at low heat for a few minutes to re-distribute the wax in the paper. |

You're welcome. I got that either from the original manual that Lee put out with the first Lee Loaders or maybe from one of the old Lyman manuals. And as mentioned already, there is nothing like the smell of fired paper hulls. |

That's what I do, the oven treatment.
They do cause me to loose hunting time, cause every time I pull one or two out of a O/U or SxS I have to take time to smell it. |

It takes me back to being 12 years old and watching my dad clean his Model 12 and that combination of powder aroma and Hoppe's No. 9. |

Of all the smells I remember from my childhood, Hoppes #9 stands out the most.
Paper hulls, the smell was fleeting but Hoppes #9 lingered.
I still use it, and love it.
