Eah Ok if the stock is in excelent condition. If there are any cracks behind the tang pass on it

No, if that LOP (13 1/4") is to the front trigger unless you're getting it for a person with very short arms. That's usually how it's measured - to the front trigger.

It's probably okay if the measurement is to the rear trigger AND everything else checks out. Byrdog is right, pass on it if there are any cracks or splits on the stock.

Nitro Specials are good, solid guns, but problems tend to develop on older shotguns over time. This particular gun would have been made in 1923.

There's a hunter arms built ranger 16ga double on gunbroker right now on a true auction that looks like a better option. It's a sears branded Fulton, similar quality or better in better shape. Could be a better option?

Happy hunting!

Flues16 can probably give some insights on the Hunter Arms built Ranger, iirc.

Well, I'll try: Hunter Arms (best known for making the L. C. Smith shotguns) made an economy boxlock called the Fulton from 1918 until 1946. In 1937 through 1939 they made 8,237 Fultons that were marked with Sears & Roebuck's house brand Ranger. 2,787 of these Ranger guns were made in 16 gauge and the one on Gunbroker is one of them.
This particular gun (serial number 176765) was made in 1939. I'm not sure, but I believe it would have originally had 2 9/16" chambers, the example I have from 1937 does, and I don't think Hunter Arms changed to the now standard 2 3/4" 16 gauge chambers until a few years later.
As 16'er said, the Hunter Fultons are of at least equal quality to the Nitro Specials and this one seems to be in good cosmetic condition. But be sure to ask questions of the seller before bidding.
