Galaxie, I'll start a new thread on the gun forum and try to draw out some of the hammer gun owners.

Was on Pelee Island last week and got some nice roosters over the drahts. My 16ga model 12 was all I needed to seal the deal.

So glad I restored this old gun. Fits me like a glove.

Good luck to all out there this season! Smile

Thanks Dave. Technically, only the Schwartz is a draht. The old boy is a GWP....love'm both.

I’ve owned and loved both myself! They fit my hunting to a T.

dilly,
When you have good dogs like yours hunting is just fantastic! Looks like you are starting your boy right, with good dogs and 16 Gauge guns!

I recently returned from bird hunting in Montana with a stop on the way out there at the Orvis Wingshooting School in Illinois. I took my two GSP's, but after running my 7 year old the first day, an earlier leg injury resurfaced and he was on injured reserve the entire trip. That left all my bird hunting in the paws of my 3 year old, Rebel, and he came through like a champ despite bird numbers being way down due to the drought. I shot my 16 ga BSA Classic by Zabala of Spain the whole way, with Fiocchi Golden Pheasant loads, #6 for sharptail and #5 for pheasant.

Rebel on point in Montana CRP just south of Canada

Two nice roosters on opening morning of pheasant season

Rebel after a great morning of penning those long tails

On one sharptail hunt up in Montana, I got two birds that I thought were an interesting contrast between a mature sharpie and a juvenile.

The mature bird on the right is much larger, has fully feathered feet/legs and a much more distinct spotted feather pattern than the juvenile on the left.

Dilly, your M12 is a fine looking gun. If memory serves, you restocked it and finished it by your lonesome. Gil

That's the one...the metal was by Simmons/Briley. I did the finish and checkering on the wood. Thanks for noticing.
