my budget will be for what I can sell my 99.5% colt python, 4in, blue. was looking at a browning 525, 30 in, aftermarket adjustable comb, but now wondering if anyone else makes one in the $2-$3k. must have screw in chokes, this will be a shooter, not a safe queen. any ideas?

You already own a good 16 ga recreational trap gun. Your 16ga Browning A-5 1929 will do nicely if the barrel is 26" or over and is choked Mod or tighter. Your Ithaca Model 37 or Model 12 would too if either is not too light. Heavier is better here for obvious reasons.

Then save your money for ammo. Good trap shooting requires lots and lots of practice which requires lots and lots of ammo. Very Happy

thanks for your reply, I use the A5 for skeet, its I/C with 25 inch barrel, I have been using the Ithaca for trap, its choked mod, but measures between mod and full. the win 12 is also I/c, shot it today at some pasture trap, it did ok, but does not fit me as well as the Ithaca so I need to practice with it some more. my marlin 90 also does great at trap, but its getting so old and the barrel lug is getting worn out. So looking for something newer.

Guns designed for trap have a much straighter stock (less drop) than field guns because shots are taken when clays are rising. My Model 12 trap gun (28" full choke) has a small mid bead and when I mount the gun the top of the mid-bead lines up at the bottom of the front bead, resulting in a 60/40 or 70/30 pattern. You can raise the comb with a slip-on sleeve to make the gun you shoot trap with shoot a little higher.

Mod choke would be okay for 16yd targets, but a tighter choke would be better for handicap targets.

I already have an adjustable comb on my marlin 90 an a slip on one on my Ithaca.I consistently hit in the 20`s with both at 16 yds, just want a newer one with screw in chokes and a 30 in barrel

Wow! I own 2 B. Rizzini guns and 2 F.A.I.R. guns one in 16 with 28" and 30" bbls. But I'd trade my EELL Joel Etchen Custom Trap Combo in for that in a heart beat. And throw the PFS stock in for good measure LOL. Hmmm...
