I'm new at shotgun shell though have reloaded rifle and pistol for years.
Saved some polywad brand vintager red hulls to reload. Bought remington sp16 and bpi sporting hulls from midway. Want to use unique as I have about 10 pounds. Looking for a 1 ounce #6 shot load. Was thinking around 18 grains of unique? Either of these wads good to go?

I mailed off a check for the list. Hoping to get out Friday and don't think the list will be here.

Shooting a knickerbocker crescent and a Whitmore patent something. I'll post pictures later.

Just to clarify, you're looking to load:

BPI Multi-Hull 16 w Cheddite Primer
Remington SP16 Wads
Unique Powder
1 oz lead #6

Forgot the primer. I can go pick up whatever is recommended.

Thought polywad used cheddite hulls in their vintager shells.

Using either remington SP16 or BPI sporting 16 wads.

Also have fiber wads, no shot cup.

Ok, I load straight wall case, Federal for me, with a Winchester primer, 18.3 grains of Unique, one OverPowder hard card, and 2 Fiber wads with 7/8-1oz of lead in a trimmed case and hardin or roll crimp.

Looking at Data, using the SP16 with 18grains Unique should be OK, but is on the low side velocity wise. You'll likely need some filler for 1oz in the SP16 wad.

I need to see what all powder bushings I have. Was going to get close to 18 grains. Using a pacific 155.

Thanks.

Using a 432 pacific bushing I get 18.3 grains of unique.
With a RP16 wad and once of shot I get a ugly but functional shell.

SP16 wad and used 40 pounds seating pressure. I measured the shot charge to make sure. It was close. Like .988 ounce or so.

Had an extra powder charge to dump working the charge bar. So I measured it. Checked higher at 19.1. The powder had sat for an hour so maybe it settled a little tighter in the bushing.

I just need a primer recommendation and the green light I'm safe. Ended up loading 5 or so with the mystery primers that came in the primer feeder. I'll probably need to disassemble them.

ETA not mystery primers. Remington no. 97.
