I need some help. I have acquired a 24 gauge SxS and am trying to locate some shells for it. Anyone know where some might be available?

24 ga? Are you sure you don't mean 28 ga?

Maybe I'm out of my league but I do not recall a "24 Ga." in all my wanderings of all things sporting/gun/hunting related.

Perhaps if you had more information - make, model, etc

And of course, who here is sick of gun pictures? Not me

Best of luck in your search

Yep, she's a 24 gauge. It was popular once in Europe along with the 32 gauge. It is over at a friends house now but will get some pictures and post them. Nothing much to look at though. Kind of interesting in that when breached it will fold completely in half for packing. I'll also post markings.

Check with Ballistic Products also Exclamation
I'll bet that would be sweet to shoot the smaller birds with Cool
Good Luck, Charlie

I would love to own a 24 gauge gun. All I seem to shoot any more is 16 and 28, but having a 24 gauge on the dove field would be fun and would make a nice conversation piece. Does anybody here know if there is still a manufacturer making one? BTW, Ballistic does have reloading supplies in 24 gauge (don't know if they supply recipes with them, though), and rumor has it MEC will special-make a 600Jr single stage with 24 gauge dies.

Beretta made a run of O/U 24 ga. guns a few years back. They were built on the 20 ga frame and were nicely balanced little guns. I almost bought one. Ammo can be had from Fiocchi. They have a dealer very close by who will give you a decent case price. Call them directly. I'll bet they will be very willing to help.

I also knew a fellow in Florida who had a Lee 28 ga basic tool set modified for reloading the shells. Making a spinner to roll crimp them should not be too hard to do either. There are wads available and you can also cut your own. 24 ga is darned near .58 caliber, so any of the .58 caliber muzzle loading wads will work too. Contact Circle Fly wads. I'll bet they can help you.

As for data, you can probably figure out a safe charge of one or more of the existing powders available. I'd look at both the 20 ga and 28 ga and figure out what a 3/4 ounce load might need from one of the powders suitable for a 3/4 ounce 28 ga load, like Unique, a 28 ga standard for many years. I'm betting 14 to 15 grains of it would work very well, because a 28 ga. 3/4 ounce load takes 13 grains and 20 ga. 7/8 ounce load takes 15 to 16 grains. A call to Alliant might help too. Since you will be restricted to felt, fiber, and card wads, you will also have the freedom of being able to design your own wad column for height and space to allow for both shot and powder.

I'm betting this little gun will handle any bird up to and including pheasant if you keep the ranges closer than 35 yards. I know a 28 will. Why not a 24?
