Were I in the market for another 16 SxS I'd snap that one up immediately!
Nice find. |

Despite a couple dings the wood looks "better than avg" for a German gun. Some pitting near the muzzles on the bbl exterior.. Modern dimensions on the drop at 1 1/2 & 2 1/2. Nice gun. Ad doesn't say what it's choked. |

I have looked at that one several times , very, very tempting . If it had 30" barrels I would have already bought it. |

Cocking Indicators, Side clips, engraved screws under forearm and on butt plate... nice little extras! |

Guilty! What can I say--it jiggled my jello. Thanks for the tip Stevef. What are sideclips anyway. If anyones interested, I'll be selling a German O/U by P G H Buchsenmacher, Hubertus model to fund the acquisition. |

Sideclips are the two little ears on the sides of the receiver, you'll notice the breech end of the barrels are scalloped to fit the clips. Supposed to prevent any side motion of the barrels when the gun is fired. Of dubious value but I think they look cool. |

Picked this up today. On the flats I see a stamp 137, so I assume it was made in January, 1937. I do not see a stamp for the chamber length so wondering if any one knows if Sauer was making their 16's with 2 3/4 in chambers by then? |

Probably 2 1/2" chambers. I would have them measured so that you KNOW what they are now. Sounds like a nice gun.

The pre-WWII German guns I've seen had 70 stamped on the flats or across the ejectors if they were 2 3/4". Personally I'd just buy a flat or two of RST shells and take the worry out of it. |
