6" long red & white.

CAnvasback,
Charlie was very leery of the big pike. When I hoisted it out of the hole on the spear he was "out the door"

First year ice fishing. My buddy is real good at finding the spot, and the bait.

A small laker and some white fish

Trouble adding picks directly.

Wow you guys have been getting some dandy fish.
We had some good fish on in January. My wife and stepkid had fun in the shanty.

I was looking through the hole and seen him figure eighting my lure. reeled up on the lure and watched him start to chase it, then attack and bite on to it. he made about seven runs pulling thirty yards of line each run, mostly rught after eyeing the hole. my arm was starting to cramp due to the 20" rod I was using and I thought I may have to pass it to my partner to finish him off. nonetheless I persevered. finally after about 15min. he got tired and I was able to swing his head into the hole, without cutting the light test leader, for my buddy to gaff.

I was told it is a fairly rare size to catch for the lake I was fishing ( lake simcoe Ontario) there are bigger fish in the lake but rarely end up on the ice this size.

it was an epic fight for me and would be quite happy to never catch another laker. kind'a like a grouse I took years ago after a five flush chase....san's mutt.

An epic fight without a doubt! Smile Tube jigs? i'm getting to the age where chunky panfish are enough, but I'd enjoy catching (and eating) a few lakers like you did.
