Since folks have enjoyed the chukar posts, I thought it worthwhile to start a pictorial tribute to chukars, wild country, sweat, sore knees, and the lofty and often windy heights associated with "the devil bird".
Heaven knows there are no truly easy chukars, not that don't come from a pen anyway. Even during those rare events when chukars are caught off guard at the base of a mountain, there is still the matter of placing a pattern on an intercept course with rapidly escaping birds. Chukars feel absolutely no impetus to aid us in our efforts and always challenge the best of us.
Thankfully, many of us have capable canine companions when we come up slightly short in that effort. They deserve much credit and honor as well.
Without further delay, I give you the "chukar life".

Images 2 & 3 sort of do justice to the climb. Look hard in photo two and you can spot my buddy. Yes, he is as tired as he looks.

In case anyone wonders, yes that is a Rizzini 16 ga. my friend is carrying in the first picture. It is his favorite gun. |

Thanks for the tour. Magnificent country that I haven’t visited in several years.
Good Hunting,

That tenaja on the cliff band is wild. It is interesting to spend time roaming country that others just discount as ''nothing''. There are so many wonderful curiosities around every corner. PS is that a red heeler mix? |

The views you get from the top of chukar mountains just can't be beat. |

After seeing that terrain I may lay myself down and take a nap. Looks like you had a great day in one photo judging by the bird stack and Rusty. |

In just a little over 3 years, my home will not be too far away from Wyoming.
Not sure if I will ever get to hunt Chukars but I will definitely visit that region.
If that doesn't take your breath away....!!!! |

++ Thanks for the pictures! Very cool country. Bet it sounds as nice out there as it looks. I can just hear it -- quiet! |
