<  16ga. Guns  ~  1898 Marlin

Cabelas in Wheeling has a 1898C Marlin 16 ga. listed in their gun library. Anyone have any information or comments? The price seems high, however, the gun appears to be in good shape.

low pressure loads in those guns only - not the safest breeching .

Attractive engraving with excellent wood. That would be a good one to get factory letter information on from Cody. From the amount of screw heads seen in the pictures it probably is a more complex design than it needs to be, thus explaining a short production life(1898-1905). Still a really interesting gun for the 16 ga. collection. Top value in the Blue Book is $1760 on a 100% gun.
