Would be safe to reduce this formula to 3/4 oz? From 7/8 oz
16 ga Herters hull
17.3 gr 20/28 powder
Cheditte 209 primer
DR 16 ga wad
7/8 oz shot
Avg velocity is 1182 FPS & psi 7420
(Tested load from LP group)
Should powder be reduced?
Thanks |

If it crimps right there shouldnt be a safety issue BUT if you see un burned powder in the barrel than the pressure is to low and the load may be inconsistent. |

Reducing the shot charge from 7/8 down to 3/4 will reduce resistance and therefore reduce pressure. I would not reduce the powder charge. There may be a risk of blooper loads. |
