For those who have used 16ga RST, Gamebore, or Polywad Vintagers low pressure shotshells

Which low pressure off the shelf loads do you prefer and why?

I was planning on stocking up a couple of cases this summer

For a number of reasons I have not had the reloader setup in a few years and that forced me to purchase poly and rst shells the last few seasons. I didnt noticed a difference - pick whichever you prefer - but it is far less expensive to reload similar loads.

I have been debating about fiber wad loads and the gaebore and rst options are possible solutions. I've read gamebore loads have more recoil but don't have personal experience to verify.

Polywad and rst will both answer the phone and help you with what you need if you need it. Polywad is the original spreader for tight chokes but rst has more options. Never tried the other

Polywad and RST are excellent shells and pattern very uniformly. I can recommend both. However as a bonus, customer service at Polywad is OUTSTANDING. I changed my mind on the mix of shot size after I submitted my order online, and despite my hasty verbal instructions and convoluted explanation, they understood my intentions perfectly, chased down the order, and repacked and shipped it exactly as desired. Wow!

RST Spreader-Lites, 7/8 oz. 7.5 seem to like my SxS with 29" full/full tubes. Gun goes bang, bird goes down, without knowing the gun is going off. Have tried a few other off-the shelf options and they've performed the best by far. I even used them "gasp" on a couple late season pheasant hunts and had zero wounded birds, I either missed, or they were stone dead. Was pretty darned surprised by that, and impressed enough to order a couple more cases for this fall. I'm building up a sizable stack of hulls as well, I figure I'll need to look at reloading come this winter, or see if I can barter with someone to reload them for me!

Ted

What color are the different brands? Pick the color you want. It helps you shoot better. Seriously Wink

For 16, I order the Polywad SpredR's and 7/8 oz. Vintagers in 2.5". Polywad is just up the road. The founder and former owner, Jay Menafee, is an innovator in niche loads and Roberta, Ga., is just up the road from home and orders get here promptly. Nothing wrong with RST's. I've ordered them in 12 ga. Gil
