sad day.
my 1940 win m12 16ga skeet solid rib in 99% condition, a safe queen, showed its age today.
I noticed, from just sitting for decades, the solid rib is starting to separate from the bbl!
as many know, the bbl extension and receiver are blued together and the bbl is blued separately. thus why the two have different tones.
a proper repair and obvious reblue will require the bbl to be removed from the extension. if done by a novice, the extension can be destroyed and bent.
who would you trust your BEST 16ga m12 to?
granted, im not trying to pass this off as mint now. its obviously taken a collectors hit.
but I know if its done properly and honest documentation goes with the gun....sometimes it will hold value as being done by the best of the best.
got any names?
I sorta shy away from simmons. I don't get good feelings with them.
lmk.
thanks |

ive dealt with art for my brownings for decades. he was a browning factory smith for years.
not Winchesters.
hes been trying to expand his market lately.
nu-line.....ehhhh, again I have reservations with big time big operations where it sits for months and they forget what they were suppose to do...and mess up.
but still kind of you to offer an idea. |

should be able to just repair the rib where it is coming loose....then touch up the barrel blue with good rust blue solution and steam he affected area instead of boiling....bet you wouldn't even see the repair..... |

How about Doug Turnbull. I've seen some of his work and it's very nice.
Regards, Gordon |

You can Google him for opinions on his work. He is a very high quality winchester man. His work on model 12s and 21s is top notch. |

Yes, the most recent project Jim installed adjustable comb, lengthened forcing cones and mid bead on my grade 6 Browning. Jim does all my work and my shooting buddy's work at or club. He has done several Winchester restorations for guys I shoot with. That's where Jim shines above the rest he does great work and his turn around and fees are very reasonable. |
