It may be time to retire this batch of Cheddite hulls. They've had about 6 or 7 reloads...maybe too many...the interior surface of the hulls are very crusty and crenelated. This one did break the target, however.

Looks like you could use a hull cutter and make you a 1.250 inch shorty and get a couple more loads.

What powder and load were you using, Brewster11? The inside of that hull has been truly fried. Was it a lot of a fairly slow-burning powder? Frankly, it looks like the inside of plastic hulls I've loaded with black powder. I won't load black powder in plastic anymore.

20.5 gr 800X, SG16S wad, 1 oz 7 1/2 lead, 2 1/2" Cheddite hull, cheddite primer 1236 fps 9520 psi

It is possible that the burnt roughness of the hull interior could cause an increase in pressure over the nominal new hull condition

There is a pressure difference between new and old hulls.

Because of this load data is supposed to be tested with once fired hulls, as they produce higher chamber pressure.

The differences however are minor. Less than 1,000 psi.
