Just a quick introduction.

I recently inherited a family heirloom from my wifes family. A Winchester Model 12 in 16ga bought new shortly after they finished building the house on the family property.

Its in great though heavily used condition. IE not a collectors item with worn down blue etc but everything is in fine condition other than that.

I became interested in waterfowl hunting on the family property with it which I believe was the original use based on some stories I've heard.

However I was a bit turned off by the 65 dollar per box price of Bismouth rounds for it and decided to buy a Lee Load All to try my hand at reloading. Made a bushing and changed out the screws on the plate that pulls the hull from the crimp station and I've having some luck with a test 7/8oz load from the spreadsheets found on Yahoo Groups.

You have been mis-informed on the price of Kent Bismuth loads for your 16! The advertised price at Cabela's is more like $35.99 for a box of 25 which campares to the original packaging of 10rd boxes for about $15.
You will find that you can't hardly load them for that and they have worked well for many 16ga hunters for ducks over decoys and pheasant hunting in areas requiring non toxic shot.

By the way, welcome to the site and I saw in your other post that you needed shorter shells for your Model 12 and my initial response to you was not correct.
I have loaded some 21/2" shells as a way to extend the life of my hulls but have not tried loading Bismuth in them. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site that can help you. Embarassed

Welcome aboard Mr. Yugami. This is a perfect time to join up, there will be more activity and photographs now that bird seasons are beginning to open. I'm glad to hear you are already having some luck sorting out a new load for an old gun; that's always a rewarding experience.

Welcome aboard, best of luck dialing that heirloom in on some quakers. If decoying close and the choke (Mod or more open) will handle it, #3 steel works pretty well.
