Going duck hunting in southern Louisiana for the first time. I would like to use one of my 16's but is there suitable ammo for this type of hunt. I know there is a non-tox requirement. I have 2 that are steel rated (1) Citori superlight (2) the new Sweet Sixteen and a model 11 Rem not steel rated.
I can just use the 12 ga. shotguns they provide, but I like using my 16's when I can to educated hunters there is a fifth choice out there.
Any preferred hand loads?

Remington hull, Sp16 wad 18 grns of Universal and 1 oz of #4 Bismuth will make you feel like your shooting lead. There are other loads out there but this one will fit the bill. Forgot to mention either Win. or Remington primer is fine.

I do most of my duck hunting with 16 gauge using handloaded steel.

My preferred load for ducks is 7/8 oz of #3 steel at a published velocity of 1550 fps.

The recipe is available here: https://www.ballisticproducts.com/VP80%20data.pdf

See load #50204.

I have been using one of the 7/8 oz. loads with Longshot from that chart. Beware. I started out 1 grain below the specified powder charge and occasionally pierced a primer and fired hull came out pretty stiff. I backed down another 1/2 grain. The loads kill ducks all day long.
