Has anyone tried to log into SW lately. I am seeing a weird blue screen unlike their usual log in screen. This website seems to have a lot of problems. |

I haven't been on there in years. The only problem I had, was people who weren't all that nice. I found a home here after that. |

Gentlemen,
After hearing from several members I decided to pass on that Forum, I do understand it has lots of problems.

It is especially frustrating if you are discussing purchase or sale with someone. When I see that blue screen and choices offered there, I just close the screen. High praise due the administrators of site like 16ga that runs so smoothly. |

I was just on it. No problem.
I haven't had too many issues with people there. It usually has pretty good info. Particularly the reloading stuff. |

I've had 3 or 4 real bad experiences with the natives over there. Needless to say I steer clear unless I am looking for some specific information. |

If you want to see a nasty board try Doublegunshop. It used to be a very good board for information about old doubles. Now it’s more like a street brawl with a half dozen or so people fighting and name calling on almost every post. No one moderates the board not even the owner. |

I still monitor a few of the topics on SGW, but my major interaction is with the guys over on the Huglu forum. There are a bunch of guys on there who don't have inflated egos and it is probably the friendliest forum on there. We get together every year for group hunts in January and February where those of us who own dogs act as guides for the other hunters and have a great time. I've never had one of those guys take a shot over the dogs I would consider unsafe, in fact often they will pass on a shot I would have taken. We'll be doing our MLK weekend pheasant hunt at 4-B's Hunting Preserve in Missouri and in February we'll get together in Alabama for bobwhite in the piney woods on Alger Flats preserve. The moderator, Curley, lets us do a lot of off topic posting simply because it is all respectful and good natured. We've had a few Turkish gun haters come on there to bash Huglus, but once they realize the group on there is probably as diverse in gun ownership as any group on there, and readily admit to the shortcomings and virtues of the Huglu brand, they go away. I could readily do without the majority of the SGW site, but the Huglu forum gets it right. |
