If so---how's your season going? My son and I have a chance to hunt around Grinnell--we were just wondering how the rooster hunting is going around that area. Would appreciate any update information, thanks |

Well, the season is now open for pheasants in eastern Iowa---anyone have a report as to the quality of hunting there? |

I was there in early Nov, but did most of my hunting elsewhere on that trip. I lived in that part of Iowa for a few years, back when we shot pheasants in self defense! But that was long ago. Much of the CRP now gone. I can confirm that there are still birds around Grinnell. But there isn't much public land. If you can get access to private land with decent cover, you should find birds. From what I saw hunting around there this season, there are other parts of the state with more birds. But worth a trip IF you have access to decent places to hunt. |

Thanks Larry. Our hunt date would have been just south of Grinnell, Dec.15-16 on private land owned by a local hunter in the ag community but he had a scheduling conflict. He had confirmed there were birds. We'll have to see if we can make it out there before season end. |
