I will walk you through the process. No fears.

Regards, Nick

It's a gun an educated man can fix , or a shoe cobbler . 😀

Picked up the gun today ! looks really good all around. weight is 6 lbs. 9 oz on my wife's kitchen scale. LOP is 14 1/2 " with a White Line pad fitted. Serial # B 385. guessing the gun is infact a pre-war? only says Ranger on the Barrels Model 103-11. gun feels real lively and balances v. well, surprising well when coming up to my shoulder. I will get the snap caps out and make sure the firing pins are functioning.

Life is good !

Yes, it is Pre-WWII. Sears only used the Ranger trade name prior to WWII.

From what I have been told, the B-serial number indicates it was made in 1941.

I will hopefully be able to post a pic or two next week...after I go out for a pheasant hunting day with her. To be sure, its nothing special to look at, maybe a Rooster will brighten the photo...here's hoping.

I believe one can also narrow down the date of manf. by how the forearm is held on to the barrels. My Ranger twenty gauge forearm only has a spring clip that friction grabs the barrels.

Marlin used the spring clip forearm prior to 1951. Pretty sure the B-serial number indicates the gun was made in 1941.
