I haven't been on this site in a few years but I enjoyed it for all the great info found here.
I bought a bag of the 16ga CB 7/8 oz wads but can find little data for them. I mainly have Win CF and RGL case to load then in . I'm looking for powders other than PB and international that are listed on the CB website.
I would like to use clays universal or IMR 4756 with Win primers if possible. Any one have any data for using these powders?
I also bought a bag of the 16ga CB WAA 1 oz clones. Can these wads be substituted with the same data as the R16 with 1 oz of shot?
I didn't even know that IMR 4756 was discontinued until I read it here. I loved that powder and bet I killed 3,000 quail with loads in both my 16ga and 20ga SxS. using 4756. Now I really know I'm getting old, outlasting a powder I grew up with.
Any load data for the 7/8 oz CB 16 ga wad would be appreciated. |

I haven't used these yet , but my CB 12ga 3/4oz wads had load data on the inside of the white wad ID tag in the bag . |

My 7/8 oz. load is also Green dot, pretty much the same. I also load 1 oz. in the Herters and Fed hulls using this wad and 800-X:
Hester's or Fed hull
1 oz lead
22 gr. 800-X
CB WAA16-078 wad
Win 209 primer.
It's a mild load, about 1200-1250 fps, well below max load. |

4756? I wish I could stumble onto a pile of that stuff for sale. I use it in certain 10 ga. loads and have been using my dwindling supply only for those anymore. |

WyoChukar I called several stores in the Seattle area and even some in E. WA ,no IMR 4756 in stock Will keep on looking.
I wonder if the new IMR Blue will be close enough to 4756 to take its place. Not much data for it out there so far. |

The 15.5 Green Dot load is a good one for sure.I use it in all my hulls with CB 0078 and SG16 wads IMR Blue is a clone of Blue Dot. |

What is very interesting is the tested performance of that 15.5 gr GreenDot load is extremely close in both charge weight and performance to the International Clays load listed on the paper shipped with the 7/8oz wads from Claybuster.
I just loaded my first 7/8 oz loads using the Claybuster wad in the RGL hull, but I used the International Clays load on Claybuster’s data sheet. They loaded well and crimps look good. We’ll see how they perform on the skeet field tomorrow. It is forecast to be the only sunny day we have until next week. |

I haven't gotten my 16ga 7/8 wads yet probably because of all the snow in the Seattle area . It looks like I can use clays universal in the 7/8 oz loads.
Do you think universal will migrate past the CB 7/8 wad if you used a straight wall case with this combination. I still have a bunch of once fired win rabbit and squirrel cases which are a tapered case. |
