I'm toying with restocking the sterly 16GA with a stright english stock. That thin pointed crowned low dropping stock just aint for me. Or, I should say, I just don't look forward to having to change technique so much between guns (browning XS & Sterly). If I put the straight stock on it wouldnt it tend to shoot higher then. Also, I can get rid of that narrow pointed comb while still keeping the gun very light. Should I, or shouldnt I? Go to keith kearcher's website and take a gander at the graded Fox he shows as an example of his work......very nice.

IT looks like he does nice work. Has anyone ever used his services/ Do you know his turn around time?
I always liked the straight stock over the pistol grip.And it carries nicer too. |

I know nothing about Kearcher's stock work, but he fixed my Sterlingworth - safety resetting on report - with a very quick turnaround (somewhere under three weeks gone) for a very reasonable fee.
It seems reasonable that his stock work would be good, based on his client list, and the pictures on his site. |

| Keep in mind that if you do the work yourself, the tangs must be bent or you will end up an English stock with 3" of drop. If you try to shape the wood around it, it will end up looking like a swan-neck stock or worse, a boat oar. |

I agree with RPM. If you restock a gun, be sure to make the measurements yours. I have seen many restocked to original guns that still couldn't fit anyone...too much drop. If the tangs are not bent up before restocking, the gun will have a high looking comb at the front. The bend of tangs is not necessary, if you know what you will get in the end. I can show you a photo of a Fox Sterlingworth I have with a high comb and unbent tangs. It is my main pheasant gun and works terriffic for me.
