Pine Creek/Dave, I noticed one of the letters in Shooting Sportsman had a lot of clues that perhaps you wrote it. Is it true?

I thought so, good to see it in there. I know a young man with one of the 16 ga./ 20 ga. sets. It was a gift from his grandfather. You're right, they are special.

WyoChukar,

Now that young man has a Grandfather who really likes him! Being gifted one of those guns is big time cool. I hope that young man appreciates both his gun and his Grandfather. Having my Grandfather and Fathers L.C. Smith Guns means a great deal to me, I hope he cherishes his Grandfathers gift like I cherish mine.

Ken's newly acquired original Fox A with upgraded wood, the CSMC repro's with Roy's Engraving are just as nice. The original is some kind of serious 16 gauge American Classic Double Gun. Only a few Box Lock guns in our gun safe, the original Fox A 16, the Fox Repro 2 Barrel set, and the Parker 20/16 Repro 2 Barrel set, I would also like to add.

WyoChukar,

Ken's Parker Repro with the 16 gauge barrels is a fine shooting Grouse gun, the proof Ken holds in the picture below. Real nice shot at about 35 yards took the big bird. He has it hanging in his gun shop. We have some big Grouse in our mountains, every once in a while you shoot a bird of a life time, to hang on the wall.

That young fella I mentioned is about a nice a kid as you could ever meet. He does fully appreciate his grandfather and the gift. He also drives a nice old mid 70's Ford pickup to school every day. He's got it pretty good.

That Fox looks familiar. I drooled over pictures of one like it online recently. Nice grouse too. We get a few "whoppers" like that here in Wyoming, but most of our ruffs are just a little bigger than a hefty chukar. We do have some huge blue grouse though. Every once in a great while, an old male may reach 4 lbs. I should take one of those to a taxidermist some day, they're magnificent.
