Would anybody know where I can get a box (or two) of factory loaded 16 GA 1-1/4 ounce loads - 4-shot being my preference.

Looking back the last handful of years it appears that Federal was the only company to offer such a load - a look at their website today and I no longer see it listed.

Which comes as no surprise in that it was a low-demand item that cost quite a bit, but still I have curiosity.

The last time I saw Federal 16 GA 1-1/4 ounce loads offered on Gunbroker was a couple years back, in a case lot, and they were asking in the $300~$350 range plus shipping.

Which is way more than I care to spend, and more 1-1/4 ounce loads than I'd likely shoot in a lifetime - but I understand where they were coming from.

What Skeet said...

Closest you'll likely come is Federal, 1 1/8th oz @ 1295FPS

(edit: Winchester Super-X also - similar to above)

#4 shot in 16 gauge? Only one box? You planning to hunt sage grouse or snowcock? #4 usually patterns poorly in a 16, but the best choice if you could find it would be an old box of Win Super X Double X since you want 1 1/4 oz. of #4. I do see that stuff once in a while on GB or on here.

Federal made 16 ga magnums, 1 1/4 oz--that's what is on the box-. I have a box or two of magnum 4's and even a full box of magnum 2's in lead shot. I dont have the cajones to try and shoot them out of my old lightweight 16's. I lean toward 3/4 and 7/8 oz loadings. As Skeetex said, probably prohibitive to ship

I had a couple boxes of 1-1/4 ounce 16 gauge loads. Shot one in a 6-1/4 pound gun and gave them all away. I have a nice 12 gauge Francotti that shoots 1-1/4 fine if I think I need it...

That's where I am at. If I need 1 1/4 oz. I grab one of my bigger guns. They handle it and deliver it a lot better.

used to have a 30'' m12 fitted with a Simmons rib and trap stock . Shot piles of those in it fox hunting etc . Loved it !! Now , it's 300 grn loads in EVERYTHING except 410 - still LOVE IT !! Probably the best way to get some is just check out the old hardware , mom/pop shops .
