On the first one I am skeptical about the chokes being Mod & IC in the 28" 16 ga bbl.
Prices are very high for a Model 90. Granted both guns are not common. |

Fourtrax, I’m with ya on the high prices, but that two bbl set looks to have some high grade wood, and I suppose is a custom ordered set. Is that low serial number indicative of a first year production? What makes you skeptical of the claim to have those chokes! |

I think the combo or one exactly like it was posted on Grunbroker a while back for $2,200. I have been told that checkering on pre-WWII model 90's was an extra cost option.
As for the Model 90ST, two barrel set, the fact it has upgraded wood and matching serial numbers suggests to me that it was likely a special order or presentation set. As such the chokes on the 28" barrels might have been opened up.
26" barrels were typically choked IC/Mod, 28" were typically Mod/Full although I see some variations in my Model 90's. I have a 16ga with 26" barrels that measures IC/Imp. Mod with a Skeets bore gage. |

The top one looks like it would be butt-heavy, to me. |

I’ve seen several 410/22 Marlin 90s come up for sale recently. It’s a little odd after having not seen one for years. |

The old "baby boomer" collectors that have been sitting on them for years are coming to the end of the road. |

I am at the leading edge of that group. Counting backwards I may well have been the result of VE Day celebrating. |

I do! 16 Ga, not a combo. Wear's Sears jeans however, it's a Ranger. I really like it, belonged to a Preacher friend of mine, and used in the Dakota's for many years. After his home going, I was fortunate enough to become it's caretaker.
It's a great bird gun, I use it for turkeys, as well. Nice and light. |
