Looking for a SxS shooter with 2 3/4 chambers. Would be nice to have a little case color still and good bluing. Have a new pup and will be making it out more this fall. [/list]

With a new pup, there'll likely be a lot of dog training involved where the gun will be laid down in wet grass and probably end up with dog claw marks as a bonus. Assuming you're looking for a 16 ga because of the forum you're on, a Stevens 311/ Savage Fox BSE or something along those lines would be the cheapest way to get into a 16 ga. A step up would be a used CZ Bobwhite (double trigger, English stock) or Ringneck (single trigger, POW stock). AYA Matadors and JC Higgins 100's came in 16 ga also, but only with a sometimes problematic single trigger and pistol grip stock. If you are really brave, a new gun in 16 ga can be bought from FAIR, CZ, or one of the outfits importing the AKUS made SXS's.

Simpson's has a bunch of 16 ga sxs in various configurations. Worth an evening's browse.

I have a nice little Belgian boxlock I'm working on that would be right up your alley. Will have it done in a couple weeks. 27.5" m/im, straight grip, 2.75" factory chambers, weighs about 6lbs.

I have an Eastern Arms 101.7 (5100 mechanism) SxS made by Stevens and sold by Sears with good bluing, some case colors, but some scratches on the stock that I would sell for $350 plus shipping to your FFL if outside of Virginia.

According to a letter from John T. Callahan, Stevens, Fox. and AH Fox historian, the gun was made by J. Stevens Arms division of Savage starting in 1941 through 1948. He said it is basically a Model 311 or 5151, and the 5100 stamp indicates a change in frame design and was used to distinguish between the old and new designs.

He said about 50,000 marked "5100" in 12, 16, 20 and .410 and various brand names were sold.
