Old Colonel I know about these but at $33 + shipping for each case that's way more expensive way to go. |

The rim size is smaller on the pinfire than modern cases. I have an article at home, ( I'm away from home for another week), that might explain how to resize the rim but at the moment I don't have a good grasp on how to do that. I've been told the process is way easier on the all plastic cases. |

Ah, ok then. Was thinking that the issue was with a paper basewad in all the current shell designs. I’m assuming the magtech rims are crimped on, so turning them down a bit probably won’t work? |

I shoot the magtechs and unless I am completely fooled, the base/rim is not crimped on. New hulls have a rim diameter of ~.800" and a thickness of ~.55". The multiple fired hulls can have a rim diameter of ~.807" and a thickness of ~.50"
Have fun in your endeavors. |

The Magtecs are balloon head construction
Not particularly suitable for pin fire applications
Better would be the old ALCAN 16 gauge hulls

Pretty sure the Actives have a steel insert in the head/ rim. Interested to know if and how it works out. |

There is a metal ring toward the outer edge of the ACTIV shell, it does not extend inside to the primer pocket and you should have no trouble drilling out to enlarge the primer pocket for a brass insert in order to convert for pin fire |
