Can anyone explain why Federal doesn't offer 16 gauge wad when they offer everything else? They sell 16 ga shells, why not the wads?

Simple.....you can't make a whole lot of money selling 16 gauge components.

For myself, I would have no interest in trying to load their 2 piece wad, even on a single stage.

As a reminder, Winchester has not offered the WAA16 wad for sale to the public for many years. Thank goodness Claybuster picked up the slack.

Just a little tidbit that probably isn't worth much: Back in the 70s or thereabouts, my brother gave me a box of 500 Federal shotcups in 16 gauge. I'm pretty sure that at least some Federal factory loads back then had "fiber" wads, with the shotcups used on top of them. I may be wrong, but I don't think these were the modern shotcups used in the two piece Federal wads today. Regardless, Federal apparently did market at least some 16 gauge components at one time.

(I checked two of my large stashes of 16 gauge wads, and didn't locate the Federal shotcups, but they may still be around here somewhere! If I ever run onto them, I'll post a picture.)

I have a 4 boxes of those Federal shot cups, they are listed for 1 oz or more. I have no idea how old they are, but they went over card or felt wads.
I doubt I will get around to playing with them and don't remember where they came from.
I can take pictures if anyone cares and want to tell me how to post them.

Lawrence. At my age, I worry about my memory sometimes. Thanks for vindicating a 40 year old memory! I probably used my shot cups up, as I was still loading a lot of old 57 Remington hulls with fiber wads back in the 70s--may have thrown the wads in the mix just to use them up!

I can't imagine that many people reload 28 and 410 gauge.

Plenty do reload the 28ga and .410, cost for loaded ammo is borderline obscene...
