Years ago we had a M12 fitted with a safety with an oversized head from Herters. It still works great. Does anyone know where to obtain one for 16/20 ga?
TIA

This thread brought to mind a neighbor during my teens and 20s back in the 60s and 70s who also felt the need for a larger safety on his 20 gauge Model 12. He brazed a dime on the original--most everything back in those days was done with whatever was at hand!
Ray also hunted off a jumping mule, unique then and certainly would be unique now! (If only I would have taken pictures!)

Just sold an older M12 last Winter with an oversized safety button.
it was a solid rib of 1930-s. Even had a birddog head emblazoned on the "cap" area of the butt stock. This had been someone's go to every day bird gun. It had much speckling etc on the recvr. It was no beauty but I feel it must have killed MANY birds in someone's hands. Anyway, having been raised on Remmy pump & auto loaders my index finger had a hell of a time finding the safety. The big button did help........
Still own one model 12 in the "committing 12 ga" size. Think I will add the oversize button to that. They are a great, solid, well built piece of Americana. |

Thanks all for the suggestions.
For an immediate fix, I swapped safety buttons with the old 12 ga M12. The oversize button now on the 16 ga works great as it did on the 12 ga.
