I am looking for a little info from the crowd here. What is the magazine tube diameter on a 16 ga. 870? Also, if it is different than the tube diameter of the 12 ga. version, did that ever change over the years? In other words, if the 16 and 12 happen to share the same tube diameter, did they always share the same tube diameter? Anybody out there have a couple 870's and a pair of measuring calipers? |

My 1962 vintage 870 has a 12 gauge size magazine tube. |

Have 2 16ga WM's 1- 50's and other 70's vintage, both mag tube OD's mic 1.00" on the nose. Can't speak to the entire production range of the 870 but did my homework on 870 mag tube caps for fabricating an mag extension for a recent Snow Goose trip, they fit interchangeably.
