Hello All,

I'm fairly new to this forum...several months, and this is my first post. While I'm an experienced reloader, my experience has been around high accuracy bolt action center fire rifles. Lived around bench rest shooters for 12 years in Oklahoma. So, picked up a lot from being around them. Several years ago, a friend of mine passed away and his son gave me his MEC 600Jr. Since it's hard to find 16ga shells, or at least affordable ones, I decided to make it a dedicated 16ga reloader. It was quite rusty and corroded. So, a friend of mine took it to where he works (auto body shop), removed the rust and painted it...the base was painted Federal 16ga purple of course.

The only 16ga I have is a Browning Auto 5, Sweet Sixteen. I started shooting it in 1976 when I was in sixth grade. It was my dad's for several years, and my great uncle's before that hunting quail in Oklahoma. I used it mainly for hunting crows when the use to roost by the millions every winter in SW Oklahoma (Fort Cob). I had gotten out of shooting it, as it was too difficult in finding affordable shells in the loads I wanted, especially after I bought a Citori 725 12ga.

I've been reading a lot on this forum and it has been exceptionally helpful. Without the wisdom on this forum I might have given up trying to reload for it.

While I have been able to piece together most of the information I need, the one thing that I'm still struggling with is the different naming of wads, especially when referenced in reloading data. I'm specifically talking about the same wad, just different names, designations, #'s, etc. depending on the seller (rebranded) and who publishes the data. For example, I figured out from the forum the Gualandi Super G sold by Precision Reloading is the same as BPI's rebranded under SG16.

Is there a table either in this forum or elsewhere that I have missed that shows the various names for the same wads?

Thanks all

Hello SoonerEd
Welcome on your first post.

Sadly, I do NOT have that magic list

BUT if you PM me your email address I will send you
some 16 gauge wad data.

Mike

Ed, a list like that would be a very good idea, and I'm betting we could get the website caretaker, s_long, to make it a sticky at the top.

Lead shot wads

Many of these wads will load other payloads, I just listed what they are normally used for.

The first 3 wads are the ones that are confusing. Once you get used to looking at them it is obvious which is which.

Gualandi makes two 16 gauge wads.

BRG 1618 1 oz. - Ballistics Products 072SG16S - Precision Reloading TUWG1816

BRG 1621 1 oz. - Ballistics Products 072SG16 - Precision Reloading TUWG2116

Bascheri & Pellagri makes one 16 gauge wad

Z2/M16 1 oz.- Ballistics Products 020Z16 - Precision Reloading TUWZ2M16GA

These last 4 wads are never confused.

Remington 1 1/8 oz.- SP-16

Claybuster - 7/8 oz. CB0078-16

1 oz. CB0100-16

DownRange - DR-16 3/4 & 7/8 oz.

There are some steel shot wads, spreader wads and over powder wads that aren't listed. If you have any questions, let me know.

This is exactly what I was looking for...I just need to get it in a spreadsheet so I can see it in a grid.

Not fancy, but I work cheap.

Let me know if anything needs fixing or tweaking.

I've created a grid in a spreadsheet with what I could. Is there someone on here that would like for me to e-mail it to them to edit and maybe post? i don't know how to do that or to upload a file.

If you want PM me with your e-mail and I'll send it. Or, if there is a better way to do that on the forum, let me know.

I'm creating one similar. But, you have some useful notes/formatting I'm going to pirate and add to mine.

FWIW; it is my understanding that the WAA16 & CB100-16 are interchangeable.

They are indeed interchangeable. Seem to remember the CB has just a slight flare at the base.

I sent my spreadsheet to skeettx and old colonel. Maybe they can verify and add to it and post. I also sent old colonel a picture of my purple MEC 600jr. I know a 600 isn't anything special but maybe you'd like to see a custom painted federal purple reloader if he knows how to upload the pic.

Thanks everyone for the info.

No problem. I copy/pasted some of MSM's specific part #'s.

Mine is just a quick and dirty look on the Pages word processing program. A full guide would include all of the steel shot wads, and I'm no help in that area!
