In MSM2019's thread on hulls, no one seems to say what will cause you to circle file a hull. Will just one pinhole at where the crimp starts do it? A tear down one of the crimp line segments? What say you? |

For double and O/U, when the no longer hold shot or collapse when crimping and therefore are hard to chamber.
For autos or pumps, when the crimp area is not suitable for easy chambering.
BUT I have LOTS of hulls and do not put up with the impudent hull |

1.Primer pocket enlarged
2.Cracks in the hull sides
3.Crimp is weakened4. Some hulls(Remington)tend to form a "cone" out of the crimp and make seating a wad impossible. |

I don't keep junk hulls.
If the shoulder of the crimp pin holes or the fold lines crack, out they go.
Reloads are only as good as the crimp. I depend on my reloads to cleanly kill game or break targets when I properly center either one.
Also I hate miscrimped hulls because it is a direct reflection on me.
Since I shoot repeaters most of the time, pin holes in the shoulder of crimps leadto mushrooming and misfed rounds. IMHO my reloads have to be as reliable as factory new.
YMMV |

That's hilarious Tony. I remember similar behavior at the Sweet16 shoot |

If that’s the Mn horse and hunt club, I’ve been in that barrel. |

I only shoot Factory in registered shooting, so I keep influxing new hulls to my stock. I reload them three times (less if I see some failure) only and then they are history.

My Cheddite hulls discard themselves when they have had enough.
