A few weeks back I had started a topic on 1 oz loads for the 16. Someone had mentioned there were two different height SG16 wads. Can anyone help me out with a part number? |

Gaulandi lists them as BRG16/18 for the 'shorter' wad and BRG 21/16 for the wad used most often for 1 oz. loads in straight wall hulls.
Precision Reloading list the 16 ga Gaulandi wads as:
TUWG1816 - Gaulandi BRG18/16
TUWG2116 - Gaulandi BRG21/16
Ballistics Products list the 16 ga Gaulandi wads as:
SG-16S or 072SG16S - Gaulandi BRG18/16
SG-16 or 072SG16 - Gaulandi BRG21/16
The real difference between the two wads is how it sits on the powder. Under the obturating cup the BRG 18/16 has 6 'lugs' the BRG 21/16 as a number of 'rods'. The BRG 21/16 sits higher on the powder. Pics below.

Good job, Mark. This should be a sticky at the top of the forum. |

Thanks all. I was having an issue with stack height. I hate adding kidney beans to my loads. I was using the plain old SG16’s. I’ve got my new Trojan being repaired and can’t wait to waste some lead for preseason practice. |
