I first stumbled across this gun in Jan '06 and have checked back occasionally to see if it was still listed.

Locally, I would say it would go for about $200

At some point you would think the seller would wise up and realize he won't achieve his asking price.

I was following the 11-48's being offered on GunBroker and Auction Arms for the last month. There has been quite a few but most seem over priced. The ones that have sold seem to hold around that $200 mark. I splurged on a mdl 48 Sportsman at a Sheels store in Great Falls, Montana this last year. It was prestine with a 28" barrel and a vent rib, mod choke. I thought the $275 was high but I liked it a lot. Hunting with it is a pleasure. If one looks long enough a gem will come along at a reasonable price.
Best,
Ron

Isn't the 11-48 basically an A5?

The hump back design is the Remington mdl 11. It even states on the barrel made under Browning patent. I have a little 26" IC choked mdl 11 and find it nice for the field. It is much less expensive than the A5.

Chopper..

The 11-48 (5 shot), and Sportsman 48 (3 shot) are essentially forerunners to the 1100. There were several clones to the Browning A5 design, including the Model 11, and Savage 720 (of which I have in 16, of course!). I just sold a Sportsman 48 in 16, and it had a pretty good kick. Goodsteel53
