I have my muddy moments. Embarassed

I sometimes have a half-rant, half thought-through, half-clear, which yields less than half-good results.

Well this does have the wood you’re looking for...

Unfortunately, someone stored it in the duck blind apparently.

16er,

Man I thought I wanted to strangle the guy who put a few nicks in my 1901 #5 L.C. Smith French Walnut Stock, however the abuser of the for sale M21 needs to be tuned up badly.

What a shame to see a nice M21 in such bad shape. I hope somebody purchased the old gun and restores it professionally.

I am not sure those barrels can be saved. Maybe you can find good used barrels but here appears to be a nice example for less than $5,000 with a nice stick of wood.

The rusted M21 might be the result of incapacitation or untimely demise of the owner. Less excusable was the fine M21, posted here or some other site, where the owner habitually used it to hold down barbed wire fences for crossing over. The receiver looked like an old tractor hitch by that point. It’s a free country I guess.

Brewester11,

No doubt there are some legitimate reasons for the damage on classic guns. However there are lots of these classic guns that were abused especially by the later generations of the original owners. It is really a shame, however it's their private property, and they have the right to treat it any way they see fit, no matter how repulsive it is to us.

It’s just a *little* more than your budget...

Fly,

If you are going to use the new gun mostly for clays, and a little for bird hunting you might consider the Riz gun, nice guns for the money and very usable both ways. If you are going to use the gun 90% of the time for hunting birds, see my 1st post, especially if money is no object. The original pre-1910 16 gauge Purdey self opener is one great bird gun.

all the best,
