Does anyone know of a source for Remington green hulls (or at least something other than black)? Precision lists them but they've been out of stock since Christ was a corporal.
I load bismuth for hunting on WPAs and NWRs and I like to use a different colored hulls to keep myself out of legal entanglements. |

Those are used for heavy hunting loads, steel and slugs. Not too many just lying around.
Good Luck with your search. |

Would really be nice to have a 1 oz. Bismuth load that didn't call for a SP16 wad. The only hulls I load are Federal and Green Remington. I treat the Remingtons like gold and I'm down to about 400. The late 16GaWaterfowler suggested dropping a half grain of powder and adding a over powder card wad under the SP16. Bought the wads but never tried it. |

I have tried both 16 ga. overshot cards and Precision Reloading's 12/16 gauge Tight Seal.
Both solve the powder migration issue, at least with 800-X and Universal with the SP-16.
I did not drop the powder weight, simply and mostly because I settled on the Tight Seal. Neither it nor the overshot card will hold back more chamber pressure than the plastic wad will. The Tight Seal is made out of woven tyvek, which is why I like it better.
Neither the Tight Seal nor the overshot card increased velocity over the same load with nothing under the SP-16.
I know that both items slow down the reloading process, but since I use a Sizemaster for hunting loads, so it really isn't a concern.
I use a 5/8" dowel to seat the Tight Seal on the powder.
Works for me. YMMV |

Thanks Mark! I've got both Nitro cards and Tight seal. Also Universal is my Bismuth powder. Going to try both to see which stack height is best. Just for fun I'll use a Ithaca Duck plug to set the wad. |
