The days are shortening, the nights are cooling, the leaves are yellowing. Chester has emerged from his doghouse, and sniffs the breeze, hangs around the truck, and watches my every move.

Is anyone else feeling it?

Cheers
B.

Not today--90 something and super humid Sad Doesn't mean I'm not thinking about it though. Had Cooper on a couple quail recently to give him a reminder. Looking like cooling coming next week! Planning a late September walleye run with my brothers. Did see some sumac changing color recently.

The wife and I went on a hike yesterday to an alpine lake in the southern Wind Rivers. The temperature for a while was unexpectedly cool (considering the temps in the valley have been in the 90's for a long time). Saw a half dozen blue grouse. Opening day is Sept. 1. A few aspens were turning yellow as were leaves on some of the shrubs.

We really need some rain. It's as dry as 1988, the year of the Yellowstone fires.

47 and breezy this morning at my home here in Maine. A few leaves at the tops of the maples starting to turn red.

It’s such a great feeling we get as upland hunter when the leaves start to turn and we start getting chilly mornings. I love it ! I’m starting to see the Walnut leaves dropping, and they’re the first sign. Upstate NY opens on 9/20 and I’m planning a solo trip for the first week. My usual hunting partner won’t be joining me this year so solo I am.

Gentlemen,

Still in the 80's here in Pa, can't wait to use my newly acquired #5 L.C. Smith gun, come on cool weather!

It's gradually cooling here, but usually when it starts to cool, the doves migrate out. There's been many times in the past it got cool/cold enough by the end of August that there are no, or very few doves left to hunt!

I'm heading to S ID to hunt doves with a friend for a few days and hope between now and Sept 1st there isn't any frost. I'll probably be taking a 20 ga Fox Sterlingworth and 2-16 gauges. If the dove hunting is a bust, there's alwys some good fishing to be had!
