Best of luck for your dog Chicago. Keeping my fingers crosses.
FEI, I was visiting my old stomping grounds this last week. Afraid to report more road hunters then birds in Maine this year. MN and WI might be where its at.... |

just spent 4 days down at the cabin . haven't been hearing ANY drumming for a couple mos . they usually do that all summer / fall . while sitting in one of the stands deer hunting , noticed my guy up in a marker tree 50 yds away ! anyone who has hunted sharpies should be familiar with the look-out bird ! he'd fly off for a bit , then come back to the dead tree . looked like maybe been checking out the bird feeders . anyway , good to see my buddy is still around , now I need a plan !!not manu others though(probably not that far from you PC Dave ) |

16gaDavis,
We have had so little rain here in the Pa mountains over the past 2 months that it's going to be hard for a human to get any where near a Grouse. Of the 5 different coverts on my property, I have only had my new Gordon pup point 2 birds. Even the pup who is extremely quiet has trouble getting any where near enough to point the birds.
We need some rain for the start of the season, or there will be very few Grouse gunned. The birds have been flushing 50 yard out because of the crunchy leaves in the forest.
I will be in the UP for open day, we leave here the 16th for MI.
