At the request of a rancher, we went out again this evening to get rid
of some pigeons that poop on his expensive machinery.

I used a Remington 3200 and a Remington 1100 both in 16 gauge.

I was shooting a bunch of factory Dove & Pheasant loads in #6 shot.

Wow, the shooting was fast and furious and the guns performed well.

While looking for ammo in the locker I found some HEAVY loads with 1 1/4 shot and 3 !/2 drams. I did not take them Smile

The 2 3/4 inch Magnums were introduced by all of our ammunition manufacturers in their December 1954 price lists. The Peters plastic shells were introduced in 1961 and the Power Piston Wad came along in 1965. 1961 to 4 they had and over-powder plastic wad, somewhat like the Alcan PGS, that they called Power Piston. That style box was still in use for the High Velocity loads in 1973. I don't have anything for 1974, but there was a new style box for the High Velocity loads for 1975.

I bought ones like these
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/882007286

Fitted the barrels and forend
Made ejectors
procured barrel hanger
Used Lothar Walther chamber adapters
and much more to make it a usable barrel set.
The gun is heavy but that is what I wanted.

I have left them at full/full for the present, the center
of the pattern is still in the same place as a skeet/skeet

I did shoot it at crazy this morning at the skeet range Smile

...

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on those Peters 1-1/4 ounce loads, my New Browning A5 Sweet 16 loves them.

I wish they still made 1-1/4 ounce loads.
