RGuilluill96971,, I understand. Besides the 1952 and 1965, I also have a 1954 , a 1956, a 1958, and a 1961. So I prefer to leave my 1952 original. |

I had some snow geese that were out of this world. Tasted like prime rib. That said, there's nothing like the delicate meat of grouse or quail or chukars. Delicious! |

UncleDanFan,
Got to admit Grouse cooked correctly is the very best wild bird meal you will ever eat. My father was an incredible chef and baker, his Grouse meals were something to look forward to eating. I wish I had learned to cook from him, I only do a fair job in the kitchen.
all the best,

Grouse and chukar are pretty equal in my opinion, although grouse is a slightly more tan meat. Can't go wrong with either one! |

I have 2 sweet 16’s a 1960 and a 1961. I shoot them very well, they are my favorite guns to shoot. I have handled the new one, and can’t really see $1400. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t like to have one.
Here is my logic:
If the reason for buying a $1400 gun is so you can shoot steel shot, that isn’t worth it to me. $1400 will buy a lot of Bismuth if you reload, and I reload all my stuff. Again this is just my 2 cents. Cheers. |

Matthew, do you notice a significant improvement in bismuth over steel? |

dwr353, I do notice a difference. 4’s at 1,350 with Bismuth do the same for me what 3’s at 1,550 do. There is less recoil, I get to use lead wads, and I get to use those old Brownings with no fear in the back of my mind. Most of my shots are at 35 or closer. I have stretched my limits some time and taken a couple at 45, and that is with Bismuth. |

MatthewWyatt,
Man I do agree with you the Bismuth shells are great stuff, expensive but great. Out of my L.C. Smith double guns Wood Ducks have little chance. Have actually taken both Grouse and Woodies on the same hunting trip using the Bismuth on both.
Reminds me I need to reorder a couple boxes of Bismuth.

I have one of the new 16 A5 guns with a 26” barrel. It is a great fit for me. Comes up fast and hits where I look. These are amazingly simple in design. Only drawback I’ve found is that it does not cycle very light loads. |

Mine cycles 1 ounce at 1165. Not 7/8's at all. Great gun I shoot it lights out on game. |

Gentlemen,
My L.C. Smith 16 gauge double guns never fail to rotate, ejector or extractor. Sounds like some of you young guys have gun problems. 2 Shots at a bird is what God allows, especially his king of birds.
